Grape varietals
Gevrey Chambertin is only made from Pinot Noir grapes.
Origins
Gevrey Chambertin is located in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits.
It is one of Burgundy's largest wine-making areas. The appellation is harvested in the villages of Gevrey and Brochon which also produce Côte de Nuits-Villages. Along with Pommard, Gevrey Chambertin is one of the world's most famous vineyards because it has the largest number of Grand Crus in all of Burgundy: Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Chapelle Chambertin, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères Chambertin, Griotte Chambertin, Latricières Chambertin, Mazis Chambertin and Ruchottes Chambertin.
The Cluny monks started growing vines here in 640 on the village hillsides. The current average harvest is around 20,000 hectolitres.

Ageing potential
This wine can be laid down for around 10 years.
Vinification and maturing
Harvesting is traditional: total destemming precedes maceration that lasts 48 hours. Vatting lasts around twenty days or more depending on the vintage. The wine is aged in casks for 12 months. Malo-lactic fermentation is always completed.
Vintage : 2015
Here is a vintage we will remember for a long time, with a solid reputation that has already travelled throughout the world. In all my winemaker's memory, we have not seen such a vintage in a very long time!
The seasons came and went while leaving their mark on the vine: a rather cold late winter caused the vine to suffer more than usual, forcing it to draw its strength from the very depths of the soil in order to allow the buds to bloom.
A mild and dry spring allowed the vines to develop peacefully and a very warm summer filled their fruit with sunshine.
In the year 2015, the seasons have produced the perfect grapes, of an irreproachable sanitary condition and an optimal maturity. A winning combination for this exceptional vintage. The wines all present a balance with incredible aromatic fullness and amazing concentration. Actually, the only downside has been the yields - but then again this does bring another touch of originality to this remarkable vintage.
