SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Serve ideally at a temperature of around 10-12°C. (50-54°F.).

AGEING POTENTIAL

This lovely wine is best enjoyed in its early years, but will keep for up to 6 years in the cellar.

ORIGIN

A regional appellation from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, harvested in the commune of Lugny. The name ‘Villages’ or the name of the commune of origin, such as Lugny, may only be added to that of Mâcon for wines harvested within the delimited area of the Mâcon-Villages appellation in the 26 identified commune groupings.

The terroir of the Mâconnais differs markedly from that of the more northerly regions of Burgundy. Here, the soil is clay, silica or granite. It is thanks to these differences in terroir that the wines made from Chardonnay harvested in this region have a fresh, mineral character.

VINIFICATION AND MATURING

The grapes are pressed gently and slowly in pneumatic presses, then the must is settled at a low temperature. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats to preserve the freshness and natural fruitiness of the grapes. The wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation and ageing for 6 to 8 months on fine lees in stainless steel vats.
