Origins

This village appellation, one of the largest on the Côte de Beaune, covers 475 hectares, 337 of which are classified as 1er Cru.

Dominating the town of Beaune to its extreme north, just above the Clos du Roi plot, the “Marconnets” climat (origin of the Germanic word Marconnens) covers a little more than 9 hectares, of which only 3 hectares are dedicated to the grape variety. Chardonnay.

Today, works agree that the climate takes its name from the spring which once passed around and which is mentioned in several period records. The term is also derived from the old French “marc” meaning marsh.

Vinification and maturing

The Chardonnay grapes were hand-picked and sorted manually as soon as they arrived at the winery. They were then directly pressed in a pneumatic press which allows for perfect extraction of the juices without over pressing the grapes.
Vinification and ageing took place in wooden barrels  for 12 months with a proportion of 20% new oak.
