The Maranges vineyard forms the link between the Côte-d'Or and Saône-et-Loire regions in Burgundy. Although the production area is located in the Saône-et-Loire department, this appellation is an integral part of the Côte de Beaune.
The vineyards extend across the communes of Cheilly-les-Maranges, Dezize-les-Maranges, and Sampigny-les-Maranges. The rolling landscape of Maranges is made up of hills, slopes, and valleys.
The "La Fussière" Premier Cru has a predominantly marl soil: gray and blue marl covered with limestone scree. The slopes face due south.
Hand-harvested, the grapes are 100% destemmed but not crushed and placed in vats by gravity. 24 days of maceration, including one week at a cold temperature (12°C./54°F.).
The wine is then aged for 12 months in barrels, with a part of new barrels.
