Varietal

100% Chardonnay.

Tasting notes

Colour: Beautiful gold with emerald highlights.

Nose: A lovely woodiness that adds complexity, combining notes of fruit, hazelnut, fresh almond and acacia, with a touch of minerality (rock, gunflint) to lift the whole. Superb!

Palate: The perfect balance between freshness and smoothness. The structure is full and silky, the wine powerful and full-bodied, yet elegant and refined. The flavours are fruity, buttery and incredibly complex. Surprisingly long on the palate, this is a wine par excellence for laying down!

Food and wine pairing

Enjoy it as a luxurious aperitif with foie gras toast. This great white Burgundy will also go wonderfully with shellfish, seafood and fine fish, grilled or in sauce.

Serving suggestions

Ageing potential

A great Burgundy that will keep in the cellar for at least 8 years in good conditions.

Origins

This village appellation in the Côte de Beaune, along with Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, marks one of the points of the ‘Golden Triangle’. This area produces some of Burgundy's most famous white wines. The appellation takes its name from the village of Meursault (‘Muri Saltus’, which translates as ‘forest wall’). The vineyards cover 396 hectares, 96% of which produce white wine and 27% of which are classified as Premier Cru.

The ‘Perrières’ climat covers 13.7 hectares and is made up of several parcels: Aux Perrières (0.80 ha), Perrières Dessus (3.31 ha), Perrières Dessous (8.65 ha) and Clos des Perrières (0.94 ha). It takes its name from the soil on which the vines grow: ‘Perrières’ comes from the Latin Petrarium meaning ‘stone quarry’. The vineyard faces east and south, at an altitude of 260 metres. The vines are grown on soils composed mainly of Callovian limestone and Argovian marl.

Vinification and maturing

The grapes are harvested by hand, then sorted in the vatting house before being gently pressed to extract the best quality juice. Vinification in oak barrels to bring out all the natural characteristics found in this appellation: fatness, richness and aromas. Matured in the same barrels (30% new) for 18 months, with regular stirring of the lees to bring out all the smoothness.
