Chardonnay is the grape variety for Puligny Montrachet whites.
Between Meursault to the north and Chassagne to the south, Puligny Montrachet is part of the trio of prestigious villages of great white wines on the Côte de Beaune. Puligny shares the Montrachet appellation, the Prince of Burgundy’s white crus, with Chassagne Montrachet.
The annual harvest is approximately 10,000 hectolitres in Puligny Montrachet, 4,500 hectolitres for Premiers Crus and 300 hectolitres for Grand Crus
Colour: bright gold.
Nose: the bouquet has mocha aromas, warm cookies and vanilla with a hint of menthol
Palate: in the mouth it is both powerful and taut. The praline notes are revealed and there is a slight woodiness. It supports the complexity and great richness of this wine.
This great wine has incredible balance and complexity and should be served with delicate, rich dishes. It is ideal with pan-fried veal with forest mushrooms, fillet of perch with beurre blanc or foie gras with brioche. It is also excellent with shellfish, sole fillet with a cream sauce, pan-fried scallops, chicken liver pâté, rabbit terrine and for cheese, it marries well with Roquefort
Serve at 12-14°C.
This wine can be drunk young with its primary aromas and will also age very well in a cellar for the next 8 to 10 years.
