For decades, Mercurey and Rully have ranked among the most renowned appellations of the Côte Chalonnaise, considered the historic cradle of Burgundy wines. Founded in 2016, Domaine de la Bressande covers over 70 hectares of vineyards, mainly in these two emblematic villages, as well as in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, producing wines that combine quality, finesse, structure and elegance.

Parcel selection, yield control, sustainable vineyard management, and meticulous monitoring from vine to glass: these are all commitments to responsible and lasting viticulture. Certified HVE since the 2020 vintage, the estate has eliminated herbicides and favors biocontrol products to reduce phytosanitary inputs. The entire team is dedicated to a societal and environmental approach focused on the future.

Pinot Noir, the king grape of Burgundy’s great red wines.

Tasting notes

Colour: bright ruby red.

Food and wine pairing

This Premier Cru pairs perfectly with roast poultry or poultry in sauce, offal such as liver, sweetbreads, or kidneys—whether in sauce or simply pan-fried—as well as risotto, country-style pâté, or soft cheeses.

Serving suggestions

Best served at a temperature of 14–16°C. (54-61°F.).

Ageing potential

A worthy representative of Burgundy’s red wines, which will age gracefully for up to 4 to 5 years in the cellar under good conditions.

Origin

Rully is a village appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise, in southern Burgundy. The appellation includes 23 climats classified as Premier Cru.

It covers 224 hectares of white wines (including 59 hectares Premier Cru) and 133 hectares of red wines (including 37 hectares Premier Cru).

The “Chapitre” climat is located in the northern part of the Rully vineyard, extending the slopes that descend towards the town of Chagny.

It sits in an interesting transitional zone between the Côte Chalonnaise and the Côte de Beaune. The vineyards are planted on well-drained slopes at an altitude of approximately 230–300 metres, with an east to south-east exposure. This orientation promotes optimal ripening of Pinot Noir while preserving freshness and balance.
