AGEING POTENTIAL

With proper cellaring, this great Burgundy wine will age gracefully for 5 to 8 years.

ORIGIN

Located at the heart of the Burgundy vineyard, Beaune is one of the region’s most iconic appellations. Covering nearly 450 hectares across 41 climats, a significant proportion of which are classified as Premier Crus, it reflects the richness and diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs. The soils — limestone, marl, clay and sand — combine with well-defined slopes, south and south‑east facing exposures, and elevations ranging from 190 to 380 metres.

Beaune, whose name derives from the Gaulish god Belenus, has for centuries embodied the very essence of Burgundy’s wine heritage. The “Belissand” climat, traditionally associated with the goddess Bélisama, is distinguished by underground springs that emerge in springtime, giving the terroir a distinctive and expressive character.

VINIFICATION AND MATURING

Hand-harvested grapes are sorted in the vineyard and again at the winery on a sorting table. The berries are then 100% destemmed but not crushed, and transferred whole into wooden vats by gravity. Maceration lasts around three weeks, with regular punch-downs. No oenological additives (such as yeast, enzymes or tannins) are used, in order to preserve the true expression of this precious terroir. The wine is aged for 16 months in barrels, without racking, including 30% new oak.
