ORIGIN

Mâcon-Igé is a regional appellation from the Mâconnais wine-growing district (Saône-et-Loire) in the South of Burgundy. The name of the commune of origin, in this case IGÉ, may be added to the label after the name MÂCON, attesting that the wine comes from vines grown in the delimited area of the producing commune.

Nestled between Cluny and Mâcon, Igé embodies the generosity of southern Burgundy. Shaped by gently rolling hills and remarkable limestone-clay soils, this privileged terroir provides the ideal conditions for crafting white wines of elegance, purity, and expressive character.

VINIFICATION AND MATURING

After careful sorting and destemming, the grapes are gently pressed using a pneumatic press. The must is then cooled and settled for 24 hours before undergoing temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation, preserving the delicate aromatics of Chardonnay. The wine is primarily aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks to retain freshness and purity, while a small proportion is matured in oak barrels, adding texture, roundness and complexity to the final blend.
