OriginsLocated in the northern part of Beaujolais, on the granite soils of the hillsides surrounding Fleurie, the Fleurie vineyard is often regarded as producing the most feminine wines of all the Beaujolais crus. The Fleurie appellation is also known as the “Queen of Beaujolais”. According to local tradition, this reputation is attributed to the influence of the Virgin of Fleurie, who watches over the vineyards from the hilltop where her statue stands.
TerroirThe vines grow on pink granite soils containing particles of mica and quartz. This terroir lends the wines their distinctive and highly appealing aromas of red berries and flowers, together with remarkable softness and generosity on the palate.
Vinification and maturingTraditional Beaujolais whole-bunch vinification is carried out under controlled temperatures (22°C to 28°C). The grapes undergo maceration for 8 to 15 days to extract intense fruit aromas, rich colour and balanced tannins without excessive extraction.
