The soils are mainly composed of limestone and clay interspersed with sandy granite veins.
Vinification and maturing
They Chardonnay grapes were pressed, and musts are settling under control temperature. Then engages the fermentation maintained at low temperature (18-20°C. . 64-68°F.). A short ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks, which aids the preservation of the wine’s minerality, purity of fruit and crisp acidity.
Vintage : 2023
The 2023 Chardonnay harvest in the Beaujolais region was influenced by variable weather conditions. After a mild, wet spring which encouraged good vine growth but increased the risk of disease, the summer was hot and dry, marked by several heatwaves. These conditions resulted in moderate water stress, but also allowed excellent concentration of aromas in the grapes.
Harvesting began at the end of August, a little earlier than usual, in order to preserve the acidity and freshness of the grapes. Despite a slight drop in yield due to the hot weather, the bunches harvested were of very good quality, with good ripeness and thick skins, a sign of greater concentration of aromas.
The 2023 Beaujolais Blancs stand out for their exceptional quality. Tasting notes reveal expressive aromas of white-fleshed fruit, such as apple and pear, accompanied by hints of citrus and white flowers. On the palate, the wines are well-balanced, with a lovely freshness and round texture, underpinned by lively acidity. This vintage offers elegant, harmonious wines with promising ageing potential, testifying to the excellence of Chardonnay in Beaujolais.
