The Rhône Valley is the 2nd largest French AOC wine area. The appellation Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages is produced on the eastern and western side of the Rhône-river, between Vienne and Avignon. It covers 9 201 ha and extends over 4 departements : Vaucluse, Drôme, Gard et Ardèche.
Stony clay-limestone soils.
75% Grenache, 25% Syrah
The grapes are harvested after being tasted on the vine to ensure optimal maturity. Traditional vinification with long fermentations lasting 3 to 4 weeks with daily pumping-over of the must and rack and return to optimize the extraction of colour and flavour.
COLOUR : Deep red with plum highlights.
NOSE : An intense combination of stewed fruit, wild berries, spices and liquorices.
PALATE : Its good balance is supported by well-integrated tannins.
This wine goes remarkably well with roasted rabbit with olives, grilled lamb, sauced meat dishes and cheese like Beaufort.
